From Injury to Recovery: My Personal Experience With Peptide Research
20+ years of shoulder pain. Two doctors recommending surgery. One injury that pushed me to explore something different.
I'm Dex. I'm in my late 30s, and fitness is a huge part of my life. I'm a member of the 1,500-pound club, lift heavy, run or ruck almost daily, and compete in trail races and marathons.
I push my body hard. And over the years, I've dealt with my fair share of injuries.
My interest in peptide research didn't start with curiosity about performance or longevity. It started with a shoulder injury that I'd been fighting for more than two decades.
The Injury That Started It All
Back in high school, I injured my shoulder playing football. I saw two doctors, and both told me the same thing: I'd need surgery to fix it.
I wasn't ready to go under the knife.
Over time, my shoulder improved, but it was never quite right. Every shoulder workout came with popping, discomfort, and the constant reminder that something was wrong.
Then, in early 2025, things got significantly worse.
After a flare-up from weightlifting, I couldn't even lift a coffee cup off the counter without pain.
I needed a solution.
I researched everything I could find. The options kept coming back to physical therapy with resistance bands or surgery. I'd already tried bands multiple times without lasting success, and surgery was still my last resort.
That's when I came across BPC-157 again.
Discovering BPC-157
I'd heard of peptides before, but this time I started digging deeper into the research surrounding BPC-157 and its potential role in tissue recovery.
My first stop was a local wellness clinic.
Their price? $200 for the consultation and $1,400 for three vials of BPC-157.
That was enough to send me looking elsewhere.
I eventually found a supplier offering third-party testing and placed my first order.
At the time, reliable human dosing information was limited, and the recommendations I found varied significantly. After doing my own research, I decided to try 800 mcg every other day for four weeks, take two weeks off, and then repeat the four-week cycle.
Eight weeks of use in total.
What Happened Next Surprised Me
During the first four weeks, I noticed improvements in my shoulder strength and range of motion. The pain and popping were still there, but I felt like I was making progress.
After completing the second four-week cycle, the difference was dramatic.
No pain. No popping. My strength kept climbing.
For the first time in more than 20 years, my shoulder felt normal.
I couldn't believe it.
Later that year, I hit the heaviest shoulder press of my life. Even better, the shoulder problems that had followed me since high school haven't returned.
Beyond the Shoulder: My Continued Experience
Since that first experience, I've continued exploring BPC-157 during recovery from other significant injuries.
These have included:
- Two separate abdominal tears and a hernia: All confirmed through medical imaging.
- A meniscus tear: Also confirmed through medical evaluation.
- Knee problems: Following months of high-impact weighted rucking.
- An ankle fracture: During recovery, I explored both BPC-157 and TB-500.
The Knee Injury That Stopped Me in My Tracks
One of my more memorable experiences involved my knees.
For nearly five months, I'd been running with a weighted vest almost every day. My usual load was 40 pounds, but I decided to push it to 75.
Bad decision.
After just three days at the heavier weight, my knees were in rough shape.
They wobbled when I stood up, popped when I walked, and felt so unstable that I can only describe it as walking on stilts.
I started using BPC-157 shortly afterward.
Within approximately 20 days, I noticed a significant improvement in both knees. The instability had improved dramatically, and I felt much closer to normal.
That experience reinforced my interest in documenting peptide research and sharing what I've personally observed.

Why I'm Sharing My Experience
I'm not a doctor or a scientist. We’re an active team who loves lifting, running, challenging ourselves, and understanding how the body works.
Our experiences led us to take a deeper interest in peptides, the research behind them, and the questions surrounding their potential applications.
Our goal is simple: share what we’ve experienced, what we've researched, and what we've learned along the way.
This page will continue to feature firsthand experiences from our team, including our observations, challenges, and lessons learned.
No miracle claims. No promises. Just our personal experiences and a genuine interest in the science.
