An FDA panel voted yes on BPC-157. It's still not legal to compound.

In July, FDA's compounding advisory committee narrowly backed BPC-157, TB-500 and MOTS-c. The vote is only advice, FDA's own reviewers had doubts, and sport rules haven't changed.

What happened

On July 23, 2026, FDA’s Pharmacy Compounding Advisory Committee voted on whether pharmacies should be allowed to make (compound) several peptides. The panel narrowly voted for BPC-157 and TB-500 (8 to 6, with one abstention) and MOTS-c (7 to 5, with two abstentions).

  • The vote is advice, not a decision. The committee advises FDA. A peptide only becomes eligible for compounding once FDA formally adds it to its list, and FDA hasn’t finalized that decision.
  • FDA’s own reviewers had doubts. Before the meeting, FDA’s scientists raised quality and safety concerns about BPC-157, and recommended against adding TB-500 and MOTS-c because there’s so little human data.
  • It’s not an approved medicine either way. Compounding eligibility wouldn’t make BPC-157 an FDA-approved drug or prove that it works.

If you compete

None of this changes anti-doping rules. BPC-157 and TB-500 remain banned at all times by the World Anti-Doping Agency, and MOTS-c is banned as a metabolic modulator.
